Junior Rotarians Greenhouse Project

Each year we select students to represent Tech at the St. Cloud Rotary Club weekly meetings. This year in addition to attending the meetings, the Rotary Club asked the students to develop and implement a plan for a  School Improvement Project.  Our students chose to renovate Tech's greenhouse.  They did an amazing job and put in countless hours of labor and worked to collect donations from businesses in the community!  Please check out the link below for the full story with some great pictures!

Please congratulate these kids on a job well done!!!

Youth/Novice Crash Avoidance & Parent Awareness Course (ages 15-18 & their parent)
Did you know that automobile crashes are the number one killer of teens ages 15-17 in the state of Minnesota? This course is targeted at reducing the  number and severity of these crashes. After a brief classroom presentation, teens will be coached and challenged with advanced driving maneuvers in the MHSRC (Minnesota Highway Safety & Research Center) squad car. This is a fun learning environment that will target: speed selection, collision/obstacle avoidance, off road recovery, inattentive driving, hazard recognition and skid control. The fee is non-refundable less than two days before the course date. A valid drivers license or permit required. Permitted drivers should have sufficient behind the wheel experience to drive independently. All registrations will be taken by MHSRC at 320-255-3123. No class fee discount. Class limit: 25.

Online Report Cards in Skyward for 2013-2014 School year

Several years ago District 742 started using Skyward.  One of the major reasons was to improve our communication with students and parents.  Our goal is to have student attendance, and progress as current as possible and available on the web.

With our on going efforts to reduce the roughly 2 million sheets of paper we print each year, we would like to attempt to make our end of term report cards available electronically.  Because our highest priority is communication about your student's progress here at Tech, we do not want to do anything to hinder this.  Currently, 30% of our students do not have an email listed for their primary parent or guardian. We can post the report card on the family access but we are unable to send it via email to those families.  We would like to encourage everyone to log into Skyward and verify or add your email.  Click here for directions.

If for what ever reason, this creates an inconvenience for you and you would prefer to continue to receive paper reports, please call 320-252-2231 or email techreportcards@isd742.org and let us know and we will continue to provide written reports to you.

Absence Reporting

We work hard to keep accurate attendance at Tech High School.  If your son or daughter is, or is going to be absent, please contact the Student affairs office as soon as possible.

Tech Distinguished Alumni writes about Tech

Last year 10 former Tech Alumni were inducted into the Distinguished Alumni Hall of Fame.  You can view their dedication plauques in the Alumni hallway.  One of those distinguished alumni is part of the University of Minnesota faculty and maintains a blog called "All things Sport".  She recently wrote about her experiences as a student here at Tech that I think students and even their parents will find very intriguing.  Click here to link to Nicole LaVoi's article.
